Reaction to highway crash that killed 15 in Manitoba

CARBERRY, Man. - RCMP say 15 people are dead and 10 are in hospital after a bus carrying people from Dauphin, Man., many of them seniors, collided with a semi truck.

"I鈥檓 sending my deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones today, and I鈥檓 keeping the injured in my thoughts. I cannot imagine the pain those affected are feeling 鈥 but 好色tvs are here for you." 鈥 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"I have complete confidence in the exceptional emergency response and health-care workers, and I know they are doing absolutely everything they can.

"This is a devastating tragedy for our province, and I know all Manitobans will join me in offering heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the friends and family directly impacted." 鈥 Manitoba Lt. Gov Anita Neville.

"The thoughts of the entire Day & Ross team are with those who have lost loved ones in this terrible incident, and we are holding out hope that those injured will recover. At this time, we have limited details from the scene and will not have any further comment until more is known. We will fully co-operate with the investigation and offer any assistance and support that we can." 鈥 William Doherty, CEO of trucking company Day & Ross.

"Or hearts are broken and our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of all the lives impacted by the horrific and devastating tragedy near the Town of Carberry. I know our dedicated first responders are doing all they can to assist, and I want to thank them on behalf of all Manitobans." 鈥 Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson.

"Sadly, this is a day in Manitoba and across Canada that will be remembered as one of tragedy and incredible sadness." 鈥 Assistant Commissioner Rob Hill, commanding officer for Manitoba RCMP.

"Our thoughts are back home with all of those impacted by today鈥檚 tragic accident. A devastating loss for our community, we wish strength and support for the families impacted this afternoon." 鈥 Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

鈥淚t鈥檚 huge to lose so many individuals of our community and, of course, it is shocking. We just pray for those that are surviving,鈥 鈥 Kim Armstrong, administrator of the Dauphin seniors centre.

"My thoughts go out to those mourning the loss of their loved ones and to the emergency responders on the scene. As we always do, let's pull together in love and support for everyone impacted." 鈥 Brandon Souris MP Larry Maguire.

"We are devastated to learn of the tragic news coming from Carberry, Manitoba. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved and affected." 鈥 Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team.
